The Second Last Day Of 2009!

Well, it's been a while since I have posted on here. Hopefully you all didn't miss me too much. Christmas is over, the year 2009 is almost over and I know that 2010 will be a year full of new and wild adventures. I am really looking forward to a new year and a new beginning. I have even decided to make a new year's resolution....however, it will not be shared in this blog. I don't want to jinx it.

Christmas was AMAZING! We had 3 great days filled with both of our families! There was lots of laughter, games, food and love.

Work has been fine, the office hasn't even been that empty, a good and bad thing. Sometimes I just love being by myself!

Right now I am working on getting things ready for our 2010 brochure mailout....which is happening on January 6.........it will be officially over!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and I wish nothing but God's richest blessings on you for 2010!

Oh I just thought of a new New Year's resolution, one that I can share with you all: to post more blogs! I know you will all want to hear more about me and my life and what goes on at camp!

See you in 2010!

Day 55: Christms Is Just Around The Corner!

Happy Wednesday to my readers!

It has been a while since my last blog....sadly I have been way to busy to sit down and just type randomly over the last few weeks.

Today the office is quiet, it's just me and good old Cliff here. Everyone else is either up at camp or not working today. But it's nice, I am sitting and doing work while listening to Christmas carols! The songs that come out around this time of year are some of my favourites! There is something so great about Christmas carols, it's exciting for me to worship the birth of our Lord! I am also enjoying this Christmas season a bit more because there is hardly any snow....sadly I have a feeling that it's coming soon :(

The office is also nicely decorated, it will be finished by tomorrow. But the tree is up and it looks so beautiful, I just wish that my house looked as nice. Sigh. One of these days Marc and I will decorate.

This coming weekend is the big Christmas production at Church, which I am really excited about! The cast has done a great job of making Marc's play come to life! And it's also really funny :) Plus once this weekend is over, my life will finally have resting periods! My weekends will actually be weekends! I calculated a few weeks ago that I will basically be working about 30 days without having a real break from "work", so I am very excited for next week to begin!

As for me and work, not too much to record. Right now we are hoping that the brochure can be sent off to the printers by Friday, so I have been busy this week making sure all the registration stuff is ready to go and anything else that needs to be printed for summer time. I am getting really excited for summer! I am excited to start registering kids and seeing them at camp!

Well, that's all for now. Back to work! And I guess it's lunch time so I will be enjoying my chicken pot pie very soon!

I hope you all are well! And that you are just as excited about Christmas as I am!!!!

Day 44: Depends....like the Diapers.

So today at lunch Steve, Will, Pat, Shannon and myself were all sitting in our "lunch room" having some food when all of a sudden the conversation got interesting. The next thing we knew one person was sharing stories of their college/dorm years and all of the crazy things they did. One story involved a competition with fellow dorm-folk and the classic adult diaper Depends.

Here's how it goes:

These dorm people had to put on a diaper and wear it during the day. The first person to go in their diaper would win.....brownie points to the one who could poop first (pun so intended). This is a totally disgusting story, however now the camp "fun police" have it in their heads to have this type of competition one day. EW! I don't think it would really happen, but just the thought of not going to the bathroom at all during an 8 hour day makes me feel sick. And by "to the bathroom" I mean the room....not the doing.

Also today I learned that Will (the big boss) is actually very funny! Especially when he has food in his tummy! He also treats me like one of his own kids....today I got a slap on the head with a letter. Not in a bad/mean way, just in a father-like way. Sorry dad, you've been replaced with my new-improved office dad :(

In other news this week is moving week! We are thrilled to be leaving our apartment, just not so thrilled about the actual moving part. But so far we have many people who have offered to help us out! Although something tells me they are really just in it for the pizza......hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Work is work right now. It's quiet right now in the office, something that I hate. I am trying to update the database without messing it up. So far I have success, but we will see when registration time comes.

That's all for now.

Just promise me that when you use Depends, don't share this information with your friends. It's kind of gross.

Day 42: God Bless Fridays!

Today is Friday. I love it!

I don't really have much to tell you. Today was a quiet day in the office because Steve and Shannon were both out all morning and Pat and Melissa don't work on Fridays. It was just me and good old Clifford!

I did a lot of work on our Bible Ex stuff today, Shannon even liked my ideas! I am so thankful that it's coming along nicely! Hopefully in the next few weeks we can finalize it all. I am really hoping that the whole video thing will work out! We have a few ideas (either something like GLEE or having people go on a canoe trip). Both ideas are fun!

Right now I am just trying to pass time by keeping myself busy. Tomorrow is a crazy day. Marc and I are doing a show.....we need to practice lots tonight. Not to mention my big boss is coming to see it, so we have to impress him with it.

Stress Stress Stress

We move in 1 week. We are so not ready for it. Something else to add to our stress level.

But one thing I know is that GOD IS GOOD! Which is why we have Fridays!

See you on Monday!

Day 41: Thoughts

So far this blog has been about fun around the office, nothing too deep to make the head hurt. But today I feel as though I should write about something important.

Camp Arnes has been around for many years (60 to be exact) and there have been many lives changed because of camp (like ours and others). I feel so blessed to be a part of something like this and the fact that I do play a role in bringing kids to camp to hear the Good News! I am also excited because I am also helping to create the Bible Ex material for our campers to have and to experience while they are at camp. It has been really challenging because my brain is working on overtime and I just can't seem to get it right. Knowing this also makes me so happy. I know that God has great things planned for the 2010 summer up at camp! And the fact that He wants me to search and put effort in to what the campers will be taught is a rewarding feeling. It is hard, but in the end I know that it will be worth it!

Today I am working on this very thing because Shannon (my boss) and I have been having a rough go of it. I won't give anything away but I am working on the topic idea "how the world sees us as people verses how God sees us as people". When I have a real brain fart I run my ideas through google. This always leads me to the yahoo answers. Sometimes I read them, sometimes I don't, today I decided to because I was so stuck.

The Question: How does God see us as His children?

There were many answers, but take a look at what one person wrote. (sorry it's so long, but it is very interesting)

"You'd be surprised!

The Bible writers created the story of the Jewish God that is worshipped by gullible Christians today mainly in America. This God forced the Jews to eat their own children for dinner NOT AS A PUNISHMENT, but as an option in times of famine. Not even as an option, but as the “WILL OF GOD!” God NEVER objected about slaughtering and cooking children for dinner. God won’t let the Jews eat pigs, but children YES! The Preachers are very dishonest people always covering up anything negative in the Bible! They do it to protect their source of income! I dropped out of Christianity and religion after many years serving in the Christian ministry! The Bible was written to control low IQ religious people who need to pay a 10% (TITHE) crutch to function in this world. Any religion back then was as barbaric as you can’t possibly imagine. The Bible is a hangover from those days...

God is totally powerless to teach any lesson without FORCING the Jews to eat their own children for dinner. The Bible writers say that Palestine was a “Land Flowing with Milk and Honey” ONLY before the Israelite invasion. The former dwellers used to live in plenty! After the invasion SURPRISE!!! suddenly the “milk and honey” stopped flowing! So now the Bible writers are promising to Israel that “God will make the desert to blossom like a rose!” The perennial carrot hanging at the end of the stick is working!

God’s sadistic pleasures are the kinkiest ones ever to be imagined! None of the “Godless” dictators in the world EVER thought of forcing his people to eat their own children for dinner...! That is so repulsive that no smut publication is publishing anything like that either, but any pervert preacher can discreetly enjoy reading all about it in the Holy Bible! The rest of Christians are totally brainwashed with the GOD IS LOVE bit! No wonder the Clergy hid the Bible from public view for so many centuries! To their great relief hardly any Christian today pays attention to what they read in the Bible!

Leviticus 26:29 - (God is impatiently saying) YOU WILL eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters* (*without warning of any evil! Christians are trained to believe that no matter how pervert it may sound “if God says it I believe it… and that settles it!”)

Deuteronomy 28:53-57 - Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege* (*God is conditioning the mind of the Israelites 700 Bible years into the future! In our society today anybody promoting the idea of any crime like that is put in jail!), YOU WILL EAT THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB, THE FLESH OF THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS the LORD your God has given you* (*God WILL NOT do anything to protect the innocent children, but his chosen people will enjoy eating them…! Praise the LORD! Sweet Jesus… Amen?) Even the most gentle and sensitive man* (*not a sinful homosexual or a Godless atheist, but a CHOSEN CHILD OF GOD!) among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his SURVIVING children, and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating…* (*Not sharing is “THE SIN”! Only repugnant wanking perverts would write anything like this in a religious book like the Bible!)

Jeremiah 19:9 I* (*God, NOT SATAN, but GOD!) WILL MAKE THEM EAT THE FLESH OF THEIR SONS AND DAUGHTERS* (This sick God has to FORCE the Jews to eat their own children! During the real historic Roman siege of “Masada” [do Google] all the Jewish families killed themselves before even dreaming about eating their own children!)

God won’t force the Jews to eat PIGS, but their own children YES! The Bible writers say that when the 666 mark will be instituted Christians won’t be able to buy or sell food without it. Based on Bible precedents, will the heart bleeding Christians of the Westboro orientation eat their own children for dinner? Christians would deny it or say that if God forced the Jews to do it, it was because the Jews were very “sinful”!

Ezekiel 5:10 - Therefore in your midst fathers WILL EAT THEIR CHILDREN...

Any kind of secular government would offer its citizens better protection than the Bible God. They would certainly allow them to eat pork instead of children! It took Moses 2 men to carry a single cluster of gigantic size grapes to show Israel how plentiful was the Land of Palestine that they were going to invade (Num 13:23)! It was a trick in the Bible script to motivate well fed Jews into COVETING* (*the heck with the 10 Commands!) to leave Egypt and to invade the Holy Land of plenty! (BTW, there is not a shred of historical evidence that millions of slave Jews ever lived in Egypt, but what the heck!) Now the Jews can eat their own children in the Holy Land for God’s kinky pleasure! Actually, for the pleasure of the wanking Bible writers and some discreet Bible readers today!

Lamentations 4:10 - With their own hands COMPASSIONATE WOMEN* (*GODLY WOMEN…! Not lesbians or atheistic ladies, but “MANY” God loving heterosexual ladies) HAVE COOKED THEIR OWN CHILDREN...!

Here is a case in FULL EXPLICIT CONTEXT in the Bible that is IMPOSSIBLE for any Preacher to “spiritualize” and make it go away!

2 Kings 6:26-29 As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the king* (*a God related King)!” The king replied, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? Then he asked her, “What's the matter?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.’ So we cooked my son and ate him* (*BTW… it came out delicious!). The next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him, but she had hidden him!* (*God cursed woman! She cheated!)

They were all COMPASSIONATE Godly, non-Atheistic, heterosexual women that HAVE SLAUGHTERED AND COOKED THEIR OWN CHILDREN FOR DINNER at the tune of “The LORD is my Shepherd I shall not want” (Psa 23)!

Isaiah 49:15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I* (*God) WILL NOT FORGET YOU!* (*I’ll make her eat the child! Hey, not even Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is that scary! God must have a serious psychopathic disorder and ought to see a shrink or rather put the Bible writers in jail!)

The last bunch of Bible writers claim that God the Son Jesus Christ was beaten to a pulp thoroughly tenderized and heavily marinated in Roman soldiers’ spit to become the dignified “Lamb of God” grotesquely nailed totally naked to the Holy Cross to cleanse the World from “sin.” BTW, the Roman soldiers never dressed the genital area of their victims with a white diaper! The Christians snack Jesus ROMAN SPIT FLAVORED MEAT AND DRINK HIS HOLY BLOOD to go to Heaven when they die! (John 6:53) The eating of children is part of the BIBLE tale so the forever snacking on the Jesus Christ in the Holy Communion is not half that bad!

The Bible writers say that God’s enemies ought to be killed in their infancy when it is easier to get rid of them (Amen?)
Psalm 137:8-9 - O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, HAPPY is he who repays you for what you have done to us* (*Holy Vendetta! The heck with “giving the other cheek!”) --he who seizes your infants and DASHES them against the rocks.

Needed abortions today are for HUMANE reasons! Only the fetus is destroyed not a born child! God requires that the children be dashed to pieces or slaughters and cooked for dinner after they are born! God’s Chosen People are promised to ravish some horny ladies while slaughtering their children!

Isaiah 13:16 (KJV) Their little ones also WILL BE DASHED TO PIECES before their eyes; Their houses will be plundered And their wives ravished…. (the wanking Bible writers claim that some ladies of God’s enemies will be ravished to their delight while their children are being DASHED TO PIECES – God is conditioning the mind of his chosen people for this sort of depravity!)

God the Son Jesus Christ is hardly any better than his Daddy God!

Revelation 2:23 (In his apocalyptic “revelation” Jesus Christ says) I WILL STRIKE HER CHILDREN DEAD* (*No abortionist can beat Jesus at killing babies --not destroying fetuses, but killing children! God the Father forced Israel to eat their children for dinner now God the Son Jesus Christ promised to kill the children in the wrong Churches so they can learn a lesson on WHO IS THE BOSS. To add insult to injury, preachers are getting rich selling books on Jesus’ love for the little children of the world! Today, Jesus Christ would be in jail for bullying about killing any child to favor a particular brand of faith!) Then ALL THE CHURCHES WILL KNOW that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.* (*Not even the Mafia talks like that in public!)

The bottom line is that the Bible was written by a bunch of wanking perverts. Christians are brainwashed to disregard all the crap in the Bible that they hardly read!"

I read this and was so surprised. I just couldn't get over the fact that this young person felt this way about God and the Bible. And that fact that they were previously involved in Christianity (not sure to what degree or what denomination). All I wanted to do was to write to them and let them know that they had totally taken these passages out of context. I am no Bible scholar and I really have a hard time understanding it sometimes, but God would never force a person to eat their own child. I looked up some of the passages this person quoted and read them in context, they had a totally different meaning.

My heart broke for this person and others out in the world like them. They are missing out on the best possible thing that we could ever have while living on earth. And because they misread something.

This got me thinking about the question everyone has "why do bad things happen to good people? and why does God let it happen?"

I hate this question, but I understand why people ask it. I am a Christian and bad things happen to me. But the things that have happened to me happened either because of my bad decisions and for the fact that I have sinned OR because of the natural ways of the world. Loved ones in my own life have died and for "unfair" reasons, but I know with my whole heart that God did not punish my aunt because of her sin and He did not give her cancer.

Bad things happen to us because our world is so full of sin and because people are full of sin. If God had it His way nothing bad would ever happen to us, no matter what our faith is. But it's because He gave us free choice so we wouldn't have to be like robots (thank goodness for that!!!).

It's a simple answer, but it's the one that I believe.

Getting back to what this writer wrote as their answer (in response to other people answering this same question). If you read these verses in context there is one underlying issue. (Again I will say that I am not a Bible scholar and these are my own views and opinions.) The same theme that flows through all of these passages is SIN. A simple, three letter word that people seem to forget about.

Bad things happen to "good" people because of sin, not because of God.

These are my thoughts. I would love to hear yours.

Day 36: What is Up With This Office?

So on Monday I quoted good old Office Space the movie, and the office has been crazy quiet for the last THREE days. I have no idea what is wrong with everyone, but it sounds like work is actually getting done here.

Today I got to experience Microsoft Office Publisher 2003. It is crazy hard to figure out how to do things the best and most efficient way. That said, it only took me half of the day (give or take) to create from scratch a family camp registration form. I am pretty darn impressed with myself. And I gave my boss the great idea that we should keep it as a folded type brochure looking thing, only because that's how I created it in the first place (after a million tries).

Also today I got to make up camper quotes. Easy, you might think. But how many different ways can you come up with "Camp was amazing I loved it!"??? It was hard, but in the end I managed to squeeze out 30 different fake quotes campers might have said to us during the 2009 summer.

On a personal note, I am still sick, which forced me to head to bed at 7pm last night and then sleep for pretty much the next 12 hours. Who does that? Especially what 23 year old goes to bed that early? My mom, who is in her 50's goes to bed around that time every night, but she also gets up earlier. Am I really that lame that I must (and I mean must) go to bed at an early hour. I miss my days of college dorm life when there was no bed time, you just slept all day long!

Marc and I are meeting with a lawyer on Sunday (we are missing church because of it) and paying the huge fee of closing costs to them. Who knew it would be so much?!?!? When we met with a guy at the bank regarding our mortgage back in early September, he said it shouldn't be more then $3,000. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! It is not anywhere close to that. Stupid bank. The good news is that we still have the house! And that's what counts, right Joanne?????

Well, the office is almost closed for the day and my brain is fried. I wonder what I will do once I am home????? (.................sleep...............)

Until next time!

Day 34: The Case of the Mondays

Well it is officially 5:15pm and I am still at the office! This makes me sound so good, but I really got here at 2pm today. I had an eye appointment, which took forever and so I have decided to stay until 6pm to make up for lost time....and to get paid for at least half a day!

An update:
I was sick all weekend, and slept most of it. I did miss Friday at work because I needed to sleep, but it was SO worth it! Saturday I was still tired and sick but I managed to pull myself together to pack up some of our belongings. Now our apartment looks horrible because it's full of cardboard boxes. Sunday was a long day....we were at church from 9-4 basically. But the Christmas production is coming along nicely!

Work today was fine. It was quiet in the office, I am not feeling well and Melissa is only working Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on, and I think Cliff was out running errands for part of the afternoon. I just think we all had a case of the Mondays (thank you Office Space!).

I actually got a lot done today! Right now Marc is in talks with doing a drama program at camp this summer, for a few weeks in August, and I have been working on the Bible Ex material. So far it's kind of lame and cheesey because I have to relate it to the Bible and drama, but the connections are there.

I also read part of a book, for research to help me understand teenagers for Bible Ex. It's called DO HARD THINGS by Alex and Brett Harris. So far it's great! Although I still don't really understand teens. Wait! Wasn't I one just a few years ago?!?!?!?!

I even answered the phone today! Two people called while I was at work, well actually it was the same guy calling twice. So technically I guess it was only one.

Right now I am just passing the time and taking a thinking break. I think I have earned one!

Day 33: What Comes Before Part B????

I will let you take a minute to sit an ponder this answer. When you have figured it out, please laugh out loud as long and as hard as you would like! The answer is the reason for my blog tonight!

Today was the first party that we have held in our office since I started almost 2 months ago. And boy, it was a gooder! But I have to say that since it was my idea and I planned it all (almost).

We had our monthly staff meeting this morning which lasted almost 2 whole hours, but it led nicely into the potluck lunch that we prepared! Last week while I was making a sign up sheet for lunch I was asked the question "what theme will our meal have?". I totally hadn't thought of that, so I quickly responded "Mennonite". The food today was amazing! So much meat! I made perogies, well I bought perogies from our local Food Fare because they have them specially made and with no dairy as well! So I fried up my perogies with some bacon and they were super good! A little cold because all we have at work is a microwave, and it's old.

After lunch we played a mean round of Office Bingo, which surprisingly was a huge hit! Melissa went to Dollarama and bought some great Halloween prizes, which everyone seemed to love! Our next game didn't go over so well, so we quickly moved on to our third game. A race around the office in our rolly office chairs, using only our hands to get us around. I think people liked this game, but didn't like the fact that physical effort had to be used. I think our office is pretty small, but they were tired. I guess next time I plan games I need to try them myself in order to see how things work.

Once all was said and done and cleaned up I went home. Not because I worked so hard that I deserved the rest of the day off, but because I was feeling sick. Pat said I had a fever, and my stomach was trying to eat itself all morning. So I went home thanks to Melissa and slept for almost 3 whole hours! It was great!

Until next time....The Office Girl

ps. PLEASE tell me you got my joke?!?!?!?!?!

Day 32: Opening Up

The people in my office are very different, some of them hide in their office pretending that none of us exist, while others sit at their desk making so much noise knowing full well everyone in all of Winnipeg will hear them. I have found it to be an interesting thing trying to figure out what I should do and how much noise, so to speak, I should be making.

At staff meetings I am quiet, mostly because I am the new girl and my thoughts do not really count. I try and talk to everyone on a personal level at least once a day, to make my other office nerds know that I do appreciate them. Pat, on the other hand, is probably getting sick of me because whenever I am bored or need to stretch I go and visit her. Sometimes I make up problems that I have just so I can leave my lonely, gray world and talk to another life form. Most of the time answering the phones just doesn't cut it for me.

With all of that said, I started to think about my personal life and how I communicate with my friends and family. Sometimes I have things to say but I never say them. Also, I read Terrin's blog today about how she is feeling about youth and stuff, and there are things that I should be saying to help encourage her!

So let me start with the dear Terrin Ramsey! You are so great at your job! I mean how many people can juggle a million jobs all at once? As for youth, well I was hardly around when you did it before and haven't been there since, but I know that the kids love you so much. And I had a blast working with you during our months at the canteen/cafe! You have such a heart for people! And remember, sometimes people forget to encourage. Just know that we love the hard work you are doing!!!!! PA would be lost without you!

There are many others that I can think of that I should write about, but I will leave it at Terrin for now.

I hope that whoever reads this will think of at least 5 people that they can encourage today!

Signing out......The Office Girl

Day 31: Harassment!

I am not sure what to title this blog post. Not a whole lot happened today. Well, I have been harassing people who do owe us money from the summer.....so I will call it HARASSMENT!

It is a horrible job making sure people pay and hunting them down like wild game, but somebody has to do it.

There is a party for our office on Thursday (all my idea!) and it's going to be a blast! It's a non-Halloween party. We are going to have lots of food and games with sweet prizes! Our lunch is going to be Mennonite themed, which was also my idea! Mostly because I couldn't think of a theme and Mennonite food is all I know! (Besides fast food....but I am not sure how that theme would have flied here in the office).

I am tired. It's been a long day. And it will be an even longer evening as I am off to volleyball tonight :)

See you later!

Saturday

Well, so much has happened this last week. I graduated from University and Marc and I bought ourselves our very first home! It's been a HUGE week for The Office Girl.

Speaking of The Office Girl, she is loving her new job and the people of her office! Yes they might all have their weird quirks, like not locking the bathroom door or having a horrible sounding throat clearing problem, but all in all they are great people!

The best part of it all is that they laugh at my jokes! Even when they are not funny! It's great!!!!!

I am learning so much and having so much fun! I am so blessed to have a job like this one!

As you may have noticed, today is Saturday. But don't worry, I am NOT in the office. That would be just silly. But I figured that since I hadn't written in a while I would update you all on The Office Girl's weekend life!

Today is lazy/doing nothing/cleaning day in our house! Right now Marc is off at the Bombers game (I bet I already know the outcome of the game......Bombers suck) with his friend Daniel. And I am stuck at home being lazy..........soon the house cleaning thing will kick in.

Later in the day we are going to pick up some boxes from STEPHEN ELIZABETH SUTHERLAND! (See Steve, I do mention you in my blog) And start packing little things that we will not be needing during the next month. Quite exciting!

Other than all of this, not too much is happening for the rest of the day. I just love Saturdays!

I hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am enjoying mine :)

Day 23: Rules

Rules
People hate rules. But I rather enjoy them.
Rules can save lives. Rules can help prevent unwanted things. Rules allow for this world to function.

There are even rules here in the office. For example, we have an IN/OUT board to let us all know where you are. Very helpful. We also have a "clean up after yourself" rule along with a weekly chore board for the bigger office cleaning tasks.

However the rule that I mostly enjoy is the rule of locking the bathroom door. We have both sexes in our office and just one bathroom. There is one particular male in my office who insisted on getting a lock for this door to prevent him walking in on one of his female co-workers. This rule is smart and has a purpose.

Today there was a moment in the afternoon when things were slow and I had a really full bladder, so I decided to head on over to the bathroom. I opened the door........And what did I find???? This said male co-worker of mine tucking his shirt into his pants. "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LOCKING THE DOOR RULE BUDDY!" is what I wanted to say, but all I could get out was an "I'm sorry".

How embarrassing!

Needless to say I LOVE rules! Especially when people follow them!

Day 20: All By Myself

Today is kind of a sad day because no one is here.....well Cliff is here but he pretty much just likes to be left alone. Steve is out with Will for the morning (I think), they have a bunch of meetings, Shannon is at a group project meeting for one of her classes, Melissa has yet to show up this week, and today is Pat's day off. So I am just trying to keep myself occupied with things, like this blog and facebook and looking for houses online. So far my first almost hour has been rather productive.

This coming weekend is a long weekend, because of Thanksgiving, and I thought that since everybody does it I will write a list of the things I have been thankful for over this last year.

Dear reader(s), just so you know you are my number one reason for being thankful! Because without you I really wouldn't have a reason to write!!!!

I am also thankful for
-family and friends
-Marc
-my kitty
-a great place to live, even though we are looking for something better, a house
-food
-this job, I love Camp!
-health
-our car! it has been great all year long!
-my mom's cooking!
-our Church

I am sure there are more things, but that's all I can think of right now.

I hope you all have a great long weekend! And gain a few pounds due to someone's amazing Thanksgiving Cooking!!!!

Day 17: This One is For You Dave!!!

Well, I just found out this morning that ONE person reads this! Thanks Dave! That made me feel super special!

So let me update you on the past week and a bit.

This past weekend we had a camp fundraiser which was pretty amazing. There were over 300 people there and lots of money was donated! I was a part of the serving team, which also consisted of Marc and my sister Kayla, because we needed extra hands. Even though it was a really long night, I had so much fun!

On Monday I attended my first nerd class............I took an access computer course to make my skills better. However it was kind of a waste of a day because almost everything that I was taught I already new. But next week I am taking level 2, which is focused more on starting up a database from scratch! Which should be interesting. I am also looking at talking to Will about signing me up for come DreamWeaver classes so I can take over the website!

Who knew that I would become such a computer geek????

Right now at work I am working on hunting down the parents/guardians who owe us money. Even if it's $5 I am on their tails! It's been fun though! Figuring out how to merge a word document with a query........see there I go again. Super Nerd!

Today my plan is to blog, meet a friend for coffee at 11am, have lunch when I get back, and do some STATS from this past summer (I started this yesterday, but there are so many more I have to do), and then I am off to home!

Enjoy your day! And thanks for reading!

Day 8: It's Been a While

So today I am at work, I have my program, and I still have little to do. Yesterday was CRAZY, I was working on payments and seeing who hasn't paid yet, etc. Will was in (the big boss) and he got me doing lots of things, however I was unable to finish because people weren't home, and faxes weren't coming in. LAME.

Today things are slow, but I am enjoying talking with my co-workers about next summer and things we need to change, add, etc. Next summer is going to be amazing!!!! Things that we have started planning SO GREAT!!! I hope that people are excited too, especially the future campers!

I have also mailed off some letters to my fellow camp workers! Pretty normal stuff. I just wrote out the info, put stamps on, and left them for Pat to take to the mailbox.

Right now I am just waiting for lunch to come. So soon!

I am sure that I will have more to say later.

ps. Last week as I was riding the bus I saw the best dressed man ever! He was about 65yrs old, and dressed in all white. To accessorize he had a huge gold chain and multiple gold bracelets. However, the best part of it all was that he had great white shoes, with white sport socks. It was very excellent!

Day 4: At Camp

Yesterday I was privileged enough to actually get to go out to camp for the day!!!! Mostly because I needed to get all of the registrar things from the camp office and bring them into the city. But still, it was great! It was so nice seeing friends from the summer, although they were super busy yesterday with groups, or dying of crazy diseases.

I learned the new program I will be working with (access) and Shauna signed me up for day classes to learn more about it. So that should be interesting. Long and boring days......but at least then I will know what I am doing.

I found out yesterday that my job includes a lot of mailing things.....every week. So today I am hoping Pat will teach me!!!

Tonight Marc and I are heading out to Morden, tomorrow there is a Parkensins walk. We are walking for Marc's aunt. It should be fun! And easy! It will only be 5Km.......unlike the 10Km that Lindsay and I walked in June (that was brutal). I am looking forward to a night in a hotel. Away from the city.

Well, that's all for right now. I need to get ready for work and get Marc up so he doesn't almost miss work like yesterday!

Day 3: Lazy Day

So Shannon is off to camp for the day, so I am just chilling around the office trying to find work for myself! So far I have read an article on teens and media, checked my facebook like a million times, called Marc, tried to do some photoshop stuff (which is NOT working) and now I am blogging to my readers (are there any?).

I was thinking the other day of making my blog kind of like the Julie/Julia movie. Not that I am trying to cook like Julia Child.....that would just be crazy.....but kind of update people on the office life, etc. I had a dream that this worked and people from all over the world who worked in offices followed my blog and commented on it. However, I think that this blog will only reach a small portion of "fans". SIGH.

The theme for next summer is going to be fun to work with! ABOVE THE NOISE!!! So I have started looking at ideas for Bible Ex, mostly just ideas for the cover design. But when I was talking with Shannon yesterday, she had mentioned the idea of having a video Bible Ex, instead of books......well that just got my mind going.

No hints yet. But if she likes my ideas then I will definitely fill you in :)

Sweet! 45 minutes until I am out of here!!!!

Until next time. Office Girl Out!

Day 2: Leaving Early

What a day! So we did have a meeting! It was great! Every Tuesday is our devotional time! Which is going to be so encouraging!!! However, the best part of my day is when Shannon (my boss) said that I could leave early today, and come in late and leave by noon tomorrow! What a great boss!!!

So right now I am home and relaxing!

Day 2: Late

Yesterday was my first day of work, and let me tell you it is nothing like the show The Office. I watched 2 whole seasons just to prepare myself, but that show is not the real world. First of all, I don't have a crazy boss who always wants to talk in the conference room. In fact, we have yet to have a meeting. Secondly, there are no cameras. Every time I do a goofy "Jim" smile I expect a camera crew to be watching me. This is not the case. Instead I look ridiculous. Thirdly, even though my job is slack for this week (until I become officially trained), I still have things to do. There are no pranks being pulled, there are no parties, and there is definitely NOT any flirting.

Overall it was a great first day! It went by quickly, I got some work done, and so far my boss is happy!!!!

Today, however, is already a different story. Due to a stalled car I missed my second bus, which made me 30 minutes late. Good thing they are very understanding here at Camp Arnes!

So right now I am sitting in my chair, at my desk, in my empty cubical (which is gray and depressing) all sweaty from a 20 minute walk (from Monroe to work......not bad timing!!!) just waiting for a program to download.

More to come later! I promise!!

Officially An Office Girl Part 1

It's the morning. I am getting ready. I woke up at 5am today, and for no particular reason. It definitely does not take me three hours to get ready.....I guess I am just full of nerves. Lots and lots of nerves. I actually have no idea what I will be doing today, since my city boss said that my computer is still at camp......which does not help me at all.

I decided on wearing the skirt that I bought on the weekend......now what to wear it with?!?!? I guess I should have given myself three hours to get ready. ACH!

I am really hoping that the people I will be going to work with have some quirks about them, if not my blogs will be super boring. I am really hoping that it's like the Office, except that my boss isn't a complete moron with no respect for anything and actually works.

Well, this is only part 1.......stay tuned for more blogging once this fine day is over and I am back at home!!!

ps. Date with Terrin tonight, so looking forward to this. We haven't seen each other in forever!

Day 2......Getting Ready for the Office Life

So yesterday I went shopping for some office type clothing to wear. I bought myself a skirt. I love it!! It's grey, A-line, and it's totally hot for the office. I think I will wear it on Monday.

Today was a lazy day, for both Marc and myself. We basically just cleaned. All day long. Right now we are doing laundry. So exciting! NOT.

Tomorrow is church as well as Marc's dad's birthday. So tomorrow will be filled with party after party! After church there is a carnival and thanks to Lindsay being away and Rhonda being sick I am now in charge of doing facepainting. Which should totally suck for the kids because I can't paint faces to save my life. Oh well!

The Christmas play is coming along nicely! Only a few more weeks until rehearsal starts......I can't believe it's time again. It feels like only a few months ago we were celebrating Christmas. Where does the time go????? Today Marc wrote a great song! Oh yes. Didn't you know....this year is a mini musical?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is all for now.

Office update will come Monday. Once I have actually been there!

Day 1......Almost an Office Girl

So, basically this is for Lindsay so she can read all about what's going on in Winnipeg! But most of all about me and my ever-changing life!!!!!

My dear Lindsay, this is all for you!!!!

In exactly 4 sleeps I will be starting a new job, at Camp Arnes! For the next year (hopefully more) I will be the camp's Summer Registrar. This basically means that I take in every camper's application, deal with their money, plan cabin assignments and basically sit at a desk and talk on the phone all day long. I will also be doing a bit of summer programming! Which is what I would love to do FOREVER!

Also, Marc and I got approved for a mortgage! (LINDSAY WE ARE GETTING A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!) Well, we haven't really started looking, but hopefully this weekend we will be able to check out some homes and see what we can afford.

Right now, as I am typing this, I am watching season 4 of the Office. I am trying to get a feel for the office life.......I am excited to see who will be who! I am super excited to see Cliff our accountant, I have heard he is super interesting. I think I will like the office life, sitting all day long.

Does anyone have advice for a new office worker???? Tips? Helpful ideas?

Well I think that is all for now. I will keep you all (Linds) updated.....there will be lots when work is boring.
